Grok 3 Is Now The Most Powerful Artificial Intelligence Model, And You Can Try It Free
Grok 3 features will be rolled out for premium users of social media platform X, while the model will also be accessible through a separate subscription for the Grok web and app version.
Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, has officially launched its latest flagship AI model, Grok 3. Released late on February 17, 2025, Grok 3 introduces significant advancements over its predecessor, Grok 2, and aims to compete with leading AI models such as OpenAI's GPT-4o and Google's Gemini. The rollout includes integration into the Grok app for iOS and web platforms, along with new features designed to enhance its utility in various domains.
Grok 3 represents a family of models rather than a single entity. Among these are Grok 3 mini, which prioritizes speed over accuracy, and specialized reasoning models like Grok 3 Reasoning and Grok 3 mini Reasoning. These reasoning variants are tailored to handle complex tasks in mathematics, science, and coding by performing thorough self-checks before delivering answers. Users can access advanced reasoning capabilities through modes such as Big Brain, which is particularly suited for challenging queries.
The development of Grok 3 relied on substantial computational resources, including a Memphis-based data center equipped with approximately 200,000 GPUs. According to Musk, the model was trained using 10x more computing power than its predecessor and an expanded dataset that includes legal filings. This enhanced training infrastructure has reportedly resulted in a model that is "an order of magnitude more capable" than Grok 2.
xAI claims that Grok 3 outperforms competitors on benchmarks like AIME (focused on math questions) and GPQA (testing PhD-level knowledge in physics, biology, and chemistry). Additionally, it has shown competitive results in Chatbot Arena, a crowdsourced evaluation platform. The new DeepSearch feature further extends Grok's capabilities by scanning the internet and Musk's social network X to deliver concise abstracts in response to user queries.

Replit And Anthropic’s AI Just Helped Zillow Build Production Software—Without A Single Engineer
Replit has transformed non-technical employees at Zillow into software developers. The real estate giant now routes over 100,000 home shoppers to agents using applications built by team members who had never written code before.
This breakthrough stems from Replit’s new partnership with Anthropic and Google Cloud, which has enabled over 100,000 applications on Google Cloud Run. The collaboration integrates Anthropic’s Claude AI model with Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, allowing anyone with an idea to create custom software.
“We’re witnessing a transformation in how businesses create software solutions,” said Michele Catasta, Replit’s president, in an exclusive interview with VentureBeat. “Our platform is increasingly being adopted by teams across marketing, sales and operations who need custom solutions that pre-built software can’t provide.”
The initiative addresses the growing global developer shortage, expected to reach 4 million by 2025. Companies can now empower non-technical teams to build their own solutions rather than waiting for scarce developer resources.
Claude’s sophisticated approach to code generation sets this partnership apart. “Claude excels at producing clean, maintainable code while understanding complex systems across multiple languages and frameworks,” Michael Gerstenhaber, Anthropic’s product VP, told VentureBeat. “It approaches problems strategically, often stepping back to analyze the bigger picture rather than rushing to add code.”

Veteran Google AI Researcher Joins Chinese TikTok Owner ByteDance In Leadership Role
Wu Yonghui, who worked at Google for 17 years, will lead foundational research at the Seed division and report directly to CEO Liang Rubo, sources say.
Wu Yonghui, a prestigious “Google Fellow” who worked at the US tech giant for 17 years, recently joined TikTok owner ByteDance to lead foundational research on artificial intelligence (AI), as the firm seeks to “explore the upper limit of intelligence”.
Wu now works at ByteDance’s Seed department, which the Beijing-based company started in early 2023 after OpenAI’s ChatGPT sparked widespread interest in large language models and generative AI. Wu, based in San Jose, California, directly reports to company CEO Liang Rubo, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Wu has been named head of Seed’s foundational research, one of the people said.
ByteDance did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Tuesday.
Wu joined Google in 2008 as a software engineer. Between 2014 and 2023, he was with Google Brain, the company’s research team working in various fields including machine learning, genomics and natural language understanding.
In September 2023, he was promoted to Google Fellow, a senior-level position on the company’s engineering track, equivalent to a vice-president for managers. Wu’s last job at Google was as vice-president of research at the tech giant’s AI research lab DeepMind, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Wu graduated from the University of California, Riverside, with a PhD in computer science. He completed a master’s in statistics at the same school after graduating from China’s Nanjing University.
Wu decided on a career change because he wished to do “new, exploration-oriented” work, with a focus on “long-term, basic scientific research”, according to the Chinese tech-focused publication 36Kr, which first reported the news on Monday.

‘Two-Tier’ AI Economy Is Emerging Between Startups And Corporations, With Large Organizations Falling Behind
Large companies are not adopting AI as quickly as start-ups, AWS managing director Tanuja Randery says. The gap is leading to a “two-tier” AI economy as startups outpace corporations.
As companies race to incorporate AI into their day-to-day operations, a “two-tier” economy is emerging between startups and larger corporations, Tanuja Randery, the managing director of Amazon Web Services in EMEA told Fortune. Citing a new report from AWS, Randery said that European startups had integrated AI at pace over the last year while larger enterprises in the region were falling behind.
The report was produced by AWS’s independent policy and research consultants, Strand Partners, who conducted surveys across the European Union, the UK, and Switzerland that targeted 1,000 nationally representative members of the public and surveyed 1,000 business leaders. “Startups are really leveraging AI to build entirely new products and business models. So it’s not just experimentation—it’s really embedding it in the core of everything that they’re doing,” Randery said. “Enterprises are largely still experimenting around productivity.”
“There is a little bit of an emergence of what I would call a two-tier, or two-speed AI economy, with tech-driven startups outpacing larger enterprises, and I think that’s an important thing for us to keep an eye on,” she added. Recently, several major companies have begun talking more openly about using AI to boost their day-to-day operations. Big Tech companies, including Google and Meta, are leading the way, already using AI to automate coding work within the companies.
